ABOUT US

WELCOME

The Sant Narcis school is, above all, a space of well-being and learning. Our main mission is to ensure that the children feel cared for and appreciated so that they can grow in a safe environment, accepting the differences and respecting the people and the environment that surrounds them.

We believe that students need to receive varied educational proposals that allow them to become an active part of their learning process. But above all, they need to feel that they can develop their skills, whatever they may be. People's intelligence is multiple, as demonstrated by the fact that in our society there are professions (all necessary) of the most diverse: cooks, artists, lawyers, carpenters, athletes, scientists, doctors, firefighters, teachers, electricians, journalists... And the list would be endless.
We must be able to exploit the potential of all pupils, to feel important and to have good self-esteem.

For this reason, the teaching-learning process at Sant Narcís School revolves around four axes:

PROJECTS – CHALLENGES – SPACES – SYSTEMATIC WORK

- PROJECTS

Since its inception, at Sant Narcís school has been characterized by working for projects, especially in the area of science. Nevertheless, it is a field in constant evolution, which is why we want to deepen this methodology in order to continue promoting values such as diversity, autonomy, inclusion, cooperation, critical spirit, experimentation, meaningful learning and, of course, motivation.

- CHALLENGES

At the Sant Narcís School, we love challenges, especially if they have to do with the scenic and musical arts. Theatre, music (and culture in general) are excellent tools to motivate students, attend diversity and consolidate effort, enthusiasm and solidarity as key elements to achieve collective objectives. Logically, through the challenges, we work as fundamental competencies
as linguistic or mathematical, among many others.

- SPACES

Since the academic year 2015-16, we have set up a system of groupings called Spaces where the students of three different courses are mixed, three large heterogeneous groups: groups of small (P3, P4 and P5), Media (1st, 2nd and 3rd) and large (4th, 5th and 6th). Twice a week, each large group is divided into five work teams, approximately, for a fortnight.
With the spaces a twofold objective is pursued: to learn competently among peers (but by mixing the ages) in a more playful and manipulative way and also to develop in a more specific way the basic competences of the field of education in values (personal, interpersonal and social dimensions).

- SYSTEMATIC WORK

The rest of the weekly hours are completed with the specialities (English, Physical Education and music) and with a systematic work of the instrumental areas, such as languages and mathematics.

SCHOOL DINNER MENU

In Sant Narcís School we follow the Mediterranean diet because we think it is the most equilibrated and healthy.

We make three types of menus: Normal, Vegetarian and Vegan.
-
     - The normal menu contains all types of food.
-
-The vegetarian menu has the same food as the normal menu without meet.
-
     - In the vegan menu all the food is made with products without any meet, fish or egg.

All this food is bought in “Mercat del Lleó” (Girona), because we consider that it is the best market where we can buy the food in our zone. All the food is provided by km 0.

We have different taxes:
-
-Firstly, if you want your children to stay the whole year you have to pay 450 euros.
-
     - Secondly, if you only want your children to stay one month you have to pay 70 euros
-
     - Then, if you want your children to stay only one week you have to pay 20 euros.
-
     - Finally, if you want your children to stay only one day you have to pay 5 euros.

EXCURSIONS

In Sant Narcís School we go on many different excursions, because we think that the best way of learning is to travel around the city and compare the programme we have in class to the nature.

Firstly, in September we are going to visit “La Basilica de Sant Feliu”. This is one of the most important churches in Girona, because it’s the most representative Gothic building in Catalonia. The church houses some remarkable works of art, such as the eight Roman and early Christian sarcophagi (4th century) and the Recumbent Christ (14th century) by the sculptor Aloi de Montbrai.

Secondly, in November we are going to visit the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres. The Dalí Theatre-Museum is the largest surrealistic object in the world. It is located in the original Municipal Theatre, a 19th century construction destroyed at the end of the Spanish Civil War. On its ruins, Dalí decided to create his museum, which holds the largest collection of his main works.

Then, in December we are going to visit “Les Ruïnes d’Empúries”. Empúries is the only archaeological site in the Iberian Peninsula where the remains of a Greek city (the colonial enclave of Emporion) coexist with the remains of a Roman city (the ancient Emporiae), created in the early first century BC on the structures of a Roman military camp set up during the previous century

Finally, in January we are going to visit “El Volcà de Santa Margarita”. Nowadays, this volcano located in the region of “La Garrotxa” and a main part of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park is extinct. It has a perimeter of 2 kilometres and a height of 682 meters and a hermitage inside the crater. This small building was destroyed during an earthquake in 1428 and rebuilt in 1865.
