In Sant Narcís School we go on many different
excursions, because we think that the best way of learning is to travel around
the city and compare the programme we have in class to the nature.
Firstly, in September we are going to visit “La
Basilica de Sant Feliu”. This is one of the most important churches in Girona,
because it’s the most representative Gothic building in Catalonia. The church
houses some remarkable works of art, such as the eight Roman and early
Christian sarcophagi (4th century) and the Recumbent Christ (14th
century) by the sculptor Aloi de Montbrai.

Secondly, in November we are going to visit the Dalí Theatre-Museum
in Figueres. The Dalí Theatre-Museum is the
largest surrealistic object in the world. It is located in the original
Municipal Theatre, a 19th century construction destroyed at the end of the
Spanish Civil War. On its ruins, Dalí decided to create his museum, which holds
the largest collection of his main works.
Then, in December we are going to visit “Les Ruïnes d’Empúries”. Empúries is the only archaeological site in the Iberian Peninsula where the remains of a Greek city (the colonial enclave of Emporion) coexist with the remains of a Roman city (the ancient Emporiae), created in the early first century BC on the structures of a Roman military camp set up during the previous century

Finally, in January we are going to
visit “El Volcà de Santa Margarita”. Nowadays, this volcano located in the
region of “La Garrotxa” and a main part of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural
Park is extinct. It has a perimeter of 2 kilometres and a height of 682 meters
and a hermitage inside the crater. This small building was destroyed during an
earthquake in 1428 and rebuilt in 1865.
